If you have always been a natural leader, enjoy working with people, and feel you have a talent in personal communication then an Associate's Degree in Business Management may be a career path you will want to consider.

Associate's Degree in Business Management

An Associate's Degree in Business Management is a two year degree that is offered at most community colleges or vocational schools. While the exact courses that are required will vary from school to school the basics of this type of degree will include courses that are centered around communication, organization, and of course managing other people.

While an associate's degree will not allow you to be part of the upper management team in a business it will allow you to manage smaller parts of a company where you could do everything from supervise and motivate others, lead meetings, or organize the everyday workings of the office. Of course your specific duties will depend on the company and their exact job description.

Degree Programs

When you decide to begin your education in the field of business management you will need to research individual schools offering both online or campus education programs, as each of their Associate's Degree in Business Management programs will probably differ. Your actual Business Management Associate's Degree will be an Associate Degree in Applied Science or an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in business management or a more specific field such as:

  • Associate's Degree in Hospitality Management
  • Associate of Business in Human Resource Management
  • Online Associate's Degree in Business Administration
  • Associate's Degree in Business Communications Management

Finding a Career

One great advantage to getting an associate degree is that two year schools allow you to focus your skills to one area and get a knowledge base and hands on experience in that specific area. For example an online Associate's Degree in Hospitality Management would allow you to work in a business that manages vacations or even at a hotel front desk. If you have just a general Associate's Degree in Business Management you could probably get a job in any type of office as:

  • Office Manager
  • Human Resources Assistant
  • Administrative Assistant
  • Customer Service Representative
  • Retail Store Manager
  • Receptionist
